Waves

Day Eight

Mia finds herself in the middle of the ocean. Shay, a surfer grabs her and places her on his paddleboard. In “the story of WITH: A Better Way to Live, Love & Create” by Allen Arnold, she learns how to be expectant for the perfect wave to get to shore with Shay. She fills her vial labeled Expectant with ocean waves while on Shay’s paddleboard. Suddenly she is sitting on the floor of the elevator.

Allen says, “Expectations indicate a sense of what should be. It is how we expect things to go, often veering into entitlement. . . Staying expectant is the opposite. It reflects anticipation for what is to come. It is being open to what does happen regardless of what you think should happen. Life is not meant to be something we control but something we experience.”

Once I stopped expecting God to do certain things in my life and instead waited with anticipation for what He is going to do, where He will lead me, what He wants me to do, then I am never disappointed. His imagination and ideals are far better than I can come up with. Not to mention it is so much easier for Him to do all the work and I merely follow His blueprint.
