Day Twenty-Four
This Christmas Eve Day “A Heart Prepared: Savor the Story of Christmas Advent Legacy Journal” brings to mind how Jesus hung on a cross to free us from our sinful bondage. He came to release us from death and to infuse us with eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:17)
According to Oxford Languages the word “believe” means to “accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of”. As a child I was forced to go to church sitting on hard pews and being bored. I knew of this God and Jesus but that knowledge was received like normal school knowledge, something I was taught, but not applied. When I was eighteen or nineteen I was baptized in a church to become a member. I knew of God and did not want to go to hell. But no true repentance happened because I kept doing what I sinful enjoyed doing. My true belief in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit was fulfilled on November 30, 1997 when I was forty-one years old. True repentance and a true baptism occurred then. This is when I came to know God’s love for me, His Son’s sacrifice, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in me. With Them I was saved from death and given eternal life with Them.
