Day Four
I have great hope that various family members come to know Jesus as their Lord. I also have the hope that what God has me to write bring others to Him. “A Heart Prepared: Savor the Story of Christmas Advent Legacy Journal” helped me to see that Hope is a gift from God. Wow! I never thought of it in that way. However, the more I think about it, when God speaks to me about what He has planned for me I am given hope to do what He asks to be part of fulfilling His plan. It is not something I thought of on my own.
Mary and Joseph were a perfect example of receiving the gift of hope.
You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end. (Luke 1:31-33).
Theirs was a major hope. They had to wait nine months and thirty-three years to see a glimpse of God’s plan fulfilled despite the political, economical, and cultural situations they lived in. How many people did they know whose child was named before birth and were given a glimpse of the child’s future?
My assignment today was to record a favorite childhood holiday memory or a family member’s favorite. This was difficult because not one stood out. All of them were miraculous to me. It seems no matter what I hoped for I received and more. It just hit me this might be another reason why I have no doubt about what I ask of God He will provide and more. Besides the ton of presents under the tree, the love from my parents and family was the best. This was then topped off with stomach bulging sweet potato pie, chocolate cake, juicy turkey, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, candied yams, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, home made rolls, and more. Now I am hungry, I need to stop.
May we all enjoy God’s gift of hope.
