Guard Your Heart

Day Eight

Mary and Joseph found themselves in an unusual predicament. Mary was pregnant before their wedding ceremony. What were they going to do? How could Joseph take on the parenting of a child that was not his?

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:18-20)

They were able to put all their concerns on the Lord as He enabled them to guard their hearts as they endured this undertaking for God despite the opposition.

God is the good provider of all our needs. In May 2021 the Holy Spirit strongly pressed me to trade in a car that He had given to me several years ago after an accident that totaled my car. The plan was to pay off this car in 2023 and then be free of a car debt. However, God had a different plan. The Holy Spirit gave me a vision of that new car – a red Jeep Cherokee and told me to buy it now! He lead me to the dealer who had that vehicle and the exchange was made. I do not know what the urgency was about but I know it had to be done. The car did seem to have some issues that might have been electrical and maybe I was being protected from an electrical fire. I will never know.

I do know God has a plan and purpose for this car. The acquisition of this vehicle increased my monthly obligation for paying off the debt. Thanks to the pandemic God has enabled me to use a portion of the deferred student loan monthly payments towards this car debt. In February 2022 the pandemic deferred student loan comes out of deferment. At this point I do not know how God will enable me to pay on this car, but I know He will. He has done it before. He has provided for my financial needs in ways that only He can do. So, I am able to guard my heart and not worry about what is going to happen in February. God has a plan and it will happen right on time.
