The Color Purple

When I heard they had made a musical movie of “The Color Purple” I was not ready to be the first in line to see it. My husband and I love going to the movies, but this one I did not want to see. I saw the original movie. I loved it, but it was not one I loved enough to watch repeatedly. The darkness in that movie weighed heavy on me.

Rarely am I swayed by the positive or negative comments of others about a movie or book. I watch and read what I want for myself. I heard so many positives from people who are normally negative that I was compelled to see this production. I was raised on musicals and love love love movies filled with song and dance. This picture blew me away! In the first movie I missed the meaning of the color purple. Purple is one of my favorite colors. There was no way I could miss the meaning this time.

Sometimes the comfy seats in the theaters cause my eyes to get heavy in the most action of films. Not this time. My eyes were open, the heat of injustice burned, and the tears fell. Now this movie I am ready to see again with anyone who hasn’t seen it the first time. I hate to use this cliche, but this is a must see!
